Madhya Pradesh police are ramping up efforts to combat drug trafficking, as they recently apprehended a man and woman in possession of 4 kilograms of ganja. This development forms part of a broader campaign by the Crime Branch to tackle narcotic substances, including ganja and alcohol, authorities announced on Wednesday.

Additional DCP Shailendra Singh Chauhan, from the Crime Branch in Bhopal, disclosed that the ganja originated from Odisha. The case continues to unravel, with police vowing action against others involved. Concurrently, a separate bust in Ghumti led to the seizure of 10 boxes of alcohol, resulting in the arrest of a suspect named Shubham, while investigations to identify the smuggler are underway.

The broader state-wide initiative, launched on July 15 and titled "Nashe Se Doori - Hai Zaroori," underscores a commitment to raising public awareness about drug abuse. Spearheaded by the Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, and inspired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the campaign aspires to deter drug addiction and safeguard society's young generation from substance abuse.
