The Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction on Monday with Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for failing to offer a proper apology concerning his remarks about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who provided media briefings on Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi questioned Shah's counsel regarding the public apology they had previously demanded.
Shah's lawyer informed the court that an online apology was made. However, Justice Kant criticized the apology's validity, expressing that Shah's actions have tested the court's patience. Justice Kant questioned the sincerity of the apology, suggesting it raised doubts about Shah's intentions.
The court inquired about the completion timeline for the investigation by the SIT. The SIT member assured that the investigation would be concluded within the 90-day statutory period, set to expire on August 13, after which the case will resume on August 18. The court previously criticized Shah's comments as 'filthy' and 'shameful,' rejecting his apology as insincere, and established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the remarks further.
