Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh assumed the prestigious position of Vice Chief of Army Staff on Friday, marking a new chapter in his distinguished military career. In an official ceremony, he laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, paying tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

The event was held at South Block in the national capital, where Lt Gen Singh received a Guard of Honour and later signed the visitor's book, signalling the commencement of his new role. An alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, the officer has dedicated over 38 years to the Indian Army, serving in crucial operations such as 'OP PAWAN' and 'OP MEGHDOOT'.

Lt Gen Singh, who previously served as Director General Operational Logistics & Strategic Movement, succeeds Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani. His extensive service record includes commanding elite Special Forces units in the Kashmir Valley and along the Line of Control. For his exceptional service, he has been honored with the Ati Vishist Seva Medal and Sena Medal Bar, underscoring his invaluable contributions to national security.
