Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a significant initiative on Monday as he laid the foundation stone for the Integrated Township project, valued at over Rs 2,517 crore, in Meerut. This development is part of the Chief Minister Urban Expansion/New City Promotion Scheme.

During his address, CM Yogi highlighted Meerut's emerging identity, citing the 12-lane express highway, rapid rail, and athletic goods under the One District One Product scheme. The project, sprawling across 295 hectares, promises affordable and sustainable housing within the National Capital Region (NCR), positioning Meerut as a future hub for residential, industrial, and commercial advancements.

Apart from the infrastructural promise, CM Yogi also extended financial aid to support budding entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and housing beneficiaries, pledging to empower these segments significantly. Named 'Atal Shatabdi' in honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the township is expected to reshape Meerut's urban setting with integrated facilities, including educational and medical institutions.

The project, strategically located near the Rapid Rail corridor, is anticipated to create extensive job opportunities, establishing Meerut as a new center of development. In a scathing critique, CM Yogi accused Congress and the Samajwadi Party of conspiring against nationalists and maligning innocent citizens in the Malegaon blast case, questioning their challenges to constitutional credibility.
