In a fierce critique, Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha accused the Central government of conspiring to manipulate voter rolls in Bihar, fearing the mounting popularity of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. According to Sinha, the Parliament faces disruption due to the alleged conspiracy of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which he claims is aimed at eroding political opposition.
The Supreme Court has demanded a response from the Election Commission by August 9 regarding the removal of 65 lakh voters from Bihar's draft electoral roll. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing an NGO, highlighted the absence of clarity on reasons for voter deletion. Meanwhile, the Election Commission insists all political parties have received necessary information.
No challenges or objections have been raised by political parties since the draft electoral rolls were published on August 1. Bihar is gearing up for assembly elections later this year, with major political parties like the NDA and the INDIA bloc preparing for a fierce electoral battle.
