In a robust message of support for India's agricultural community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his commitment to prioritizing farmers, fishermen, and tribal welfare. This stance, amid escalating trade pressures from tariffs imposed by the United States, underscores India's resolve to protect its agricultural interests.

Soumya Swaminathan, Chair of the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, highlighted the importance of collective action among scientists, policymakers, and farmers to address geopolitical challenges. She emphasized India's need to maintain self-reliance in food production through a blend of scientific innovation and traditional wisdom.

Prof. KC Bansal and Prof. Rajeev K Varshney both stressed the significance of indigenous technological support and equitable trade practices. Bansal highlighted India's capability to aid farmers technologically, while Varshney expressed concerns about the implications of U.S. tariffs on India's small-scale farming sector, advocating for mutually beneficial trade agreements.
