The Indian Army has stepped up its rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected regions of Dharali and Harsil in Uttarakhand, working closely with the civil administration, Indian Air Force, National Disaster Management Authority, and Indo-Tibetan Border Police. Lt. Gen. Naveen Sachdeva, Chief of Staff at Central Command Headquarters, confirmed the Army's commitment to the ongoing efforts.
Addressing a press conference, Lt. Gen. Sachdeva highlighted the prompt reactions and comprehensive actions taken by the Army in synergy with other agencies. Special forces have been deployed, and medical personnel flown in with essential equipment. Despite the tough conditions, specialized engineering machinery is striving to restore vital communication routes.
Advanced technology, including ground-penetrating radars and drones, facilitates search and rescue operations. Satellite phones and web terminals are ensuring limited connectivity in disaster-struck areas. The Army's rapid response is underscored by the direct involvement of senior officials, including Gen. Yogendra Dimri, overseeing the efforts on the ground.
