An operation by Assam Rifles has dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking in Mizoram, seizing 6.86 kg of Methamphetamine tablets valued at approximately Rs 21 crores. The seizure took place at General Area Crossing Point 4 in Zokhawthar on Monday night.

Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles launched a meticulously planned search operation on August 18. The operation led to the recovery of 70,700 Methamphetamine tablets. The narcotics have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Aizawl for further action.

In a separate operation earlier this month, Assam Rifles also confiscated 466 bags of areca nuts, weighing 35,560 kg and valued at approximately Rs 2.48 crores, in Champhai. The swift and coordinated effort underscores Assam Rifles' dedication to curbing contraband trafficking, with both seizures now under further investigation by relevant authorities.
