In a dramatic twist of events rivaling a soap opera, a man from Bareilly district, Keshav Kumar, created a stir by eloping with his sister-in-law, only to find his brother-in-law had run off with his own sister just a day later.

The police confirmed on Tuesday that the families involved opted for an amicable settlement, avoiding any legal proceedings. The unusual incidents took place last month in Kamalupur village, under the jurisdiction of the Deoranian police station in Uttar Pradesh.

Keshav, 28, married and a father of two, absconded with 19-year-old Kalpana on August 23. In a swift follow-up, his brother-in-law Ravindra, also 22, eloped with Keshav's 19-year-old sister. The subsequent uproar prompted a complaint with the Nawabganj police, who located the couples within weeks. Ultimately, both families, alongside community elders, decided to let the couples stay together, steering clear of legal battles.
