The recent attack on former Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party member Gayatri Prajapati in Lucknow Prison has ignited a political storm. The altercation, described as sudden and unfounded by Prajapati, involved a fellow inmate wielding the sliding part of a cupboard, causing injuries that necessitated hospitalization.
Responding to the incident, Samajwadi Party MP Babu Singh Khushwaha condemned the attack and demanded scrutiny over potential conspiracies. He urged a comprehensive probe to determine who was responsible and the reasons behind the assault, emphasizing the need for accountability within the prison system.
Meanwhile, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav has called for a judicial inquiry, insisting on a fair investigation into the former minister's assault to ensure safety and justice within the UP jails. Prajapati, previously arrested on rape charges in 2017, believes a long-term inmate known as Biswas to be behind the attack.
