Fire Strike: Ukraine Hits Key Russian Oil Refinery
Ukraine launched a successful attack on one of Russia's major oil refineries in Kirishi town, triggering a fire but causing no casualties. The attack targeted Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery, which processes 6.6% of Russia's total oil refining volume. Ukrainian President Zelenskiy confirmed multiple strikes on Russian sites.
An industrial fire erupted on Tuesday in Kirishi, Leningrad region, after Ukraine carried out an assault on one of Russia's largest oil refineries, as confirmed by Governor Alexander Drozdenko.
The key target, Kirishinefteorgsintez, processes 17.5 million metric tons of oil annually, contributing significantly to Russia's oil refining capacity. Ukrainian security services claimed responsibility for the attack, citing a successful strike.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that Ukrainian forces targeted several Russian sites overnight, including defense facilities in Cheboksary, while the Russian Defense Ministry reported neutralizing 289 Ukrainian drones.
