In a sharp critique of the central government, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the media on Tuesday, condemning the frequent disruptions and alleged irregularities plaguing competitive examinations across India. This includes the recent cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam, which Kharge claims is a result of governmental negligence 'ruining the future of students.'

Kharge expressed serious concerns about the repeated incidents of alleged paper leaks, particularly in states such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, urging the government to take strict action against those responsible. 'This is a recurring issue, and the lack of attention from the authorities suggests malpractice,' he stated, highlighting the broader impacts on student credibility and future prospects.

Following allegations of question paper leaks, the NEET-UG 2026 examination has been canceled, reigniting debates on the integrity of national entrance exams. The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken up the case, probing various allegations, including criminal conspiracy and breach of trust. The examination, initially conducted in early May, will now be rescheduled as investigations proceed.
