The National Testing Agency (NTA) has canceled the NEET-UG 2026 examination amidst allegations of irregularities, leaving over 22 lakh aspiring medical students in a state of uncertainty. Although the NTA has yet to specify new exam dates, it assures that registration data will remain valid and no additional fees are required.
The decision to cancel was made after the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) and other agencies began probing irregularities, prompting the government to involve the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Despite robust security measures like biometric verification and AI-assisted monitoring, the NTA deemed a re-examination necessary to uphold public trust.
Meanwhile, candidates have been advised to check official NTA channels for updates on re-examination dates and admit card details. Past controversies including impersonation scams and paper leak allegations highlight the challenges faced by NEET, leading to strict recommendations for examination reforms by the Radhakrishnan Panel.
