India's Pharmacovigilance Revolution: A Call to Action

India has positioned itself as a global leader in reporting adverse drug events, according to the Drugs Controller General of India, Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi, during a recent event. This accomplishment underscores the growing importance of pharmacovigilance in safeguarding public health.

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, serving as the National Coordination Centre for the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India, launched the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre. Taking place from September 17 to September 23, the theme is 'Your Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI'.

During the week-long campaign, stakeholders including healthcare professionals, regulators, researchers, and the public are urged to report adverse drug reactions through simplified digital platforms. Initiatives unveiled include a short film, a multi-language pharmacovigilance comic, and a new online reporting platform with QR code access to bolster awareness and participation.
