A scandal has erupted in Madhya Pradesh as a toxic adulteration in cough syrups has led to the tragic deaths of children. The crisis intensified after Kamal Nath, a senior Congress leader, criticized the government's failings in addressing this catastrophe.
Health officials have confirmed that a dangerous substance, brake oil solvent, was mixed into the syrups, causing fatal incidents in both Madhya Pradesh and Nagpur, Maharashtra. The casualty count has risen to nine, with 13 children currently receiving medical care, some of whom are on dialysis.
The administration faces scathing reviews for its apparent oversight, prompting immediate bans on the suspect syrups. As investigations continue, child safety remains a priority, with governmental and medical teams taking exhaustive measures, including sample testing and hospital transfers.
