Meghalaya Embarks on Major Recruitment Drive for Upcoming Tura Medical College

The Meghalaya government has launched a significant recruitment drive for Tura Medical College, aimed at hiring 59 faculty members in various disciplines. Set to begin operations by the 2026-27 academic year, the college is a key part of efforts to expand medical education infrastructure in the Northeast with the help of central funding.
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department's notification, applications are now open for 14 professor posts, 20 associate professor posts, and 25 assistant professor posts. A senior department official highlighted the government's commitment to operationalizing new medical colleges in both Shillong and Tura to mitigate the healthcare professional shortage.
Construction at the Tura Medical College campus is progressing well, with attention to complying with National Medical Commission standards, such as increasing hospital bed capacity and faculty recruitment. These developments come amidst concerted efforts to enhance healthcare services and education infrastructure in the region.
