In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rains and landslides have claimed at least 22 lives since June 25, according to a Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) report cited by Dawn. The calamity has left 11 others injured due to flash floods and storms that have battered the region.

The province's Swat district endured the worst of the disaster, with 18 people swept away by a sudden flood in the Swat River. The PDMA highlighted casualties across numerous districts, including Swat, Abbottabad, and Chitral, with ongoing risks from flash floods and landslides. Swat reported 14 deaths and six injuries, and property damage is extensive, affecting 75 homes.

As rescue teams continue searches, currently focusing on a missing child, local authorities are under pressure. In Mingora, protests erupted, demanding better rescue infrastructure and accountability from officials. Meanwhile, the PDMA warns of continued rain until July 1, calling for preventive measures to mitigate further tragedies.
