Iran remains open to diplomatic engagement with the United States, but insists that negotiations will only hold value if Washington provides credible assurances against future aggression, particularly from Israel and the US itself. This stance was articulated by Iranian Ambassador to India, Dr Iraj Elahi, during an email interview with ANI.
Iran's demands emerge in the wake of recent military operations, including Israel's "Operation Rising Lion," targeting Iranian nuclear sites and notable figures, followed by the US "Operation Midnight Hammer" strikes. Ambassador Elahi condemned these actions as illegal under international law, referencing severe breaches of the UN Charter and nuclear non-proliferation treaties.
Iranian nuclear activities remain under close surveillance by the IAEA, asserting they have no weaponization intent. Though limiting cooperation with the IAEA due to perceived biases, Iran maintains its NPT membership and dedication to peaceful resolutions, urging assurance against future hostilities for meaningful US discussions.
