Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude on Thursday to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for extending warm birthday wishes, highlighting the robust partnership between India and South Africa. Modi reaffirmed the countries' shared commitment to advancing the Global South's interests, emphasizing their mutual vision for cooperation.

President Ramaphosa had earlier hailed Modi on his 75th birthday, commending his leadership and the enduring ties binding the two nations. Ramaphosa wished Modi prosperity in both personal and professional realms, underscoring the hope for continued solidarity and friendship.

The relationship between India and South Africa is deep-rooted, historically significant, and strategically strengthened through cooperation across multilateral platforms such as BRICS and the G20. Historical ties date back to Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha movement, with India playing a pivotal role in the anti-apartheid movement by initiating trade embargoes against the apartheid regime.

Other prominent leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, also extended their best wishes to Modi. Prime Minister Modi remarked on feeling overwhelmed by the global support exhibited through these greetings.
