On Wednesday, all 12 districts of Meghalaya witnessed extensive civil defence mock drills as part of a nationwide exercise, officials reported.

These simulations, involving air raid scenarios and civil defence strategies like blackouts and evacuations, intended to assess the state's readiness in crisis conditions, said Joint Director Civil Defence M K Sangma.

Key focus areas included East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills, with participation from the State Disaster Management Authority, Air Force, and Army. Scenarios tested included rescue operations and fire responses, showcasing coordinated efforts among various emergency service teams.
