In an unusual case of identity deception, police arrested a 26-year-old man, Rahul Singh Jatav, for posing as a BSF jawan in Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh. Jatav, whose own family was oblivious to the charade, had adopted this identity following his unsuccessful attempt to join the Border Security Force in 2022.

Jatav was apprehended near the BSF Academy in Tekanpur. Clad in a BSF uniform, Jatav was unable to present valid identification when questioned by police, claiming the attire belonged to his brother. The revelation came when he admitted to wearing the uniform as part of his act as a paramilitary jawan.

The police have charged Jatav under section 205 and are investigating how he obtained the uniform, assessing if any further illicit activities were conducted under the guise. As inquiries continue, the matter has underscored the challenges of unauthorized impersonation within the security forces.
