A Delhi court on Monday permitted the CBI to conclude the investigation into the disappearance of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed, who went missing in October 2016. The court acknowledged the agency's exhaustive efforts, stating that all potential avenues had been thoroughly explored.

Presiding judge Jyoti Maheshwari expressed hope for a resolution for Ahmed's family but noted that ''closure for Najeeb's mother and other loved ones still eludes us.'' The court left open the possibility of reopening the case if credible information about Ahmed's whereabouts emerges.

The CBI's investigation, spanning several years, found no evidence of foul play or conflict related to Ahmed's disappearance. Despite the diligent investigation, the agency was compelled to file a closure report, subsequently sanctioned by the Delhi High Court.
