In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement agencies in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district have apprehended a member of a notorious gang allegedly involved in adulterating petrol and diesel. The arrest was facilitated by a coordinated effort between local police and the Excise Department, highlighting the combined endeavor to tackle fuel-related crimes.

The operation, executed in the Babina region, successfully culminated in the capture of Kamlesh Rai, aged 42, during a raid near Aman Dhaba at Badora crossing. Authorities seized approximately 1,700 litres of ethanol, which was being stored illegally. Despite the success of the raid, two additional suspects, identified as Dinesh Rai and Rambabu Rai, evaded capture and are now the subject of an intensified search effort.

Initial findings indicate that the gang was operating a scheme to mix ethanol with petrol and diesel, a practice aimed at illicitly enhancing volume for profit. Officials estimate the seized ethanol's value to be approximately Rs 1.25 lakh, and pending investigations seek to identify further affiliates in this criminal enterprise.
