In a rare display of unity, lawmakers from varying political parties expressed serious concerns regarding the alarming increase in cybercrime, particularly financial fraud, during a parliamentary meeting on Thursday.
The session was led by BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, focusing on the ramifications and prevention of cyber crimes. Discussions centered around the spate of incidents and the ineffectiveness in bringing fugitives accused of large-scale fraud back to India.
Amidst calls for better coordination among investigative agencies, members pointed out the tripling of digital scam reports between 2022 and 2024, stressing the need for heightened public awareness and improved helpline services.
