In a tragic incident on Friday morning, a speeding autorickshaw claimed the life of a woman and injured four others during their routine walk in Bharthana, Uttar Pradesh. The accident occurred near Krishna Nagar as the women were returning home.

According to Station House Officer Arimardan Singh, the autorickshaw hit the women from behind on the Etawah-Kannauj highway. The victims, residents of the local neighborhood, included Lalita Devi, Siya Devi, Neetu, Seema Devi, and Poonam. Passersby alerted authorities, and police promptly arrived on the scene.

While the injured were transported to the Bharthana Community Health Centre, Lalita Devi was critically injured and succumbed on the way to Saifai Medical College. Meanwhile, the autorickshaw driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle abandoned. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
