Congress representatives from Kerala called for immediate government action on Wednesday, demanding the release of two Catholic nuns detained in Chhattisgarh over accusations of human trafficking and forced religious conversion.
The nuns, Preethi Merry and Vandana Francis, were arrested alongside Sukaman Mandavi at the Durg railway station following a complaint by a Bajrang Dal functionary, alleging that they forcibly converted and trafficked three girls.
Citing the incident during Zero Hour, Congress MPs decried the arrest as unjust, while BJP MP Vijay Baghel supported the Chhattisgarh government, calling the situation a political conspiracy to destabilize communal harmony.
