BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha has challenged the Congress government to separate the proposed 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) from a Muslim quota. Kavitha began a 72-hour fast at Indira Park, emphasizing BJP's opposition to the inclusion of Muslims in the BC quota.

She demands a separate 10 per cent reservation for Muslims and insists that the Congress government declares it openly. The move aims to isolate Muslim minority quotas from those meant for BCs, thereby putting the onus on BJP for approving BC reservations. Kavitha seeks clarity from the Congress on the inclusion of Muslims in the proposed 42 per cent.

Meanwhile, state Backward Classes Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has advised Kavitha to take her fast to Delhi, where decisions on the matter are likely. The Telangana Legislative Assembly has already passed bills to enhance BC reservations, pending Presidential assent. Congress leaders plan a protest at Jantar Mantar to push for the approval.
