The Gurugram Police's cyber wing has successfully apprehended six suspects in connection with a sophisticated stock investment scam orchestrated through WhatsApp. Officials disclosed these arrests on Wednesday, shedding light on the multi-layered fraudulent scheme.

The investigation commenced on May 16, following a complaint by a victim deceived into believing he could earn substantial profits through the alleged stock investments promoted via the messaging platform. The cyber crime team, headed by Inspector Sandeep Kumar, led the operation, resulting in the suspects' capture in Delhi's Mahipalpur region.

Those arrested include Harshit from Bhageli, Madhya Pradesh, Shivam, Akash Singh, Ashish, Ashwani Sharma, and Ram Pujan from Uttar Pradesh. The probe unveiled that the defrauded sum, approximately Rs 1.20 lakh, was originally deposited into Vinay Singh Rana's account, then sold through a chain of transactions to different actors within the network. ACP Priyanshu Dewan emphasized ongoing interrogations to dismantle the entire fraud operation.
