In a significant breakthrough, Lucknow police have apprehended two individuals in Delhi connected to a fraudulent call center operation that allegedly swindled over Rs 50 lakh from unsuspecting victims. The suspects, Vikas Kumar and Rahul Lakhera, posed as bank representatives to deceive people into renewing their credit cards, resulting in substantial financial losses.

During a press release, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Nipun Aggarwal, disclosed that the arrests followed a complaint concerning a phone call from a purported bank official. Victim Jitendra Kumar was duped into believing his credit card required renewal, after which Rs 1.6 lakh was siphoned off. The arrest was executed with the collaborative efforts of the cybercrime team and Sarojini Nagar police.

The police recovered an array of digital equipment from the suspects, including 25 mobile phones and several SIM cards. Investigations revealed the operation of the call center from Kumar's residence, employing several women for the fraudulent activities. Key accomplices such as Nawab Khan, responsible for supplying malicious apps, and 'Dubey ji', who provided victim data, remain at large.
