University Lecturer Arrested in Foiled Balochistan Terror Plot

A university lecturer in southwestern Pakistan has been apprehended by security forces for allegedly orchestrating a failed suicide attack aimed at disrupting last week's Independence Day festivities in Balochistan, officials disclosed on Monday.

Identified as Usman Qazi, the suspect is purportedly affiliated with the prohibited Majeed Brigade, a notorious suicide unit of the Balochistan Liberation Army, according to Sarfraz Bugti, the province's Chief Minister.

During an official briefing in Quetta, Bugti presented video evidence featuring Qazi admitting to the foiled attack plot and supporting militants over the years. It remains uncertain if Qazi's statements were made under pressure.
