A fatal incident rocked northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar on Wednesday, as one man died and three others were hospitalized after losing consciousness during a sewer cleaning operation. The unfortunate tragedy transpired around 11:30 pm near Harihar Apartments.
According to police reports, the team was engaged in cleaning a sewer when a worker fell inside, prompting others to attempt a rescue, only to succumb themselves. Eyewitnesses were quick to respond, with a passerby heroically helping to extract the unconscious victims.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Arvind from Uttar Pradesh, while Sonu, Narayan, and Naresh are battling for their lives in the ICU. Police have charged the overseeing construction company with negligence and violations related to manual scavenging laws.
