Dehradun: Struggle Amidst Scarce Water Supply Post-Cloudbursts

Dehradun's water supply is seeing some relief after devastating cloudbursts and floods that severely disrupted access across the region. With key water sources and pipelines damaged, authorities are gradually restoring the supply, albeit limited to once-daily distribution until complete repairs are accomplished.

The calamities that hit Dehradun on September 15-16 led to extensive damage, affecting essential drinking water sources like Bijapur Head and Bandal Head, and impacting over 2,35,000 residents in more than 40 areas. While temporary fixes have been enacted, the full restoration remains a priority.

Officials are urging residents to conserve water amid ongoing repair efforts, which are part of broader rescue operations. The floods claimed 31 lives and left numerous infrastructures, including homes and roads, damaged. Local teams continue to work diligently to restore essential services across the affected areas.
