The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has made a significant breakthrough, confiscating approximately six kilograms of mephedrone with a street value of Rs 30 crore from a residence in Vapi, located in Gujarat's Valsad district. The operation, conducted in conjunction with the Daman Crime Branch, also yielded a significant amount of raw materials.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the ATS carried out a coordinated raid involving the Daman Crime Branch and the Valsad Special Operation Group (SOG). The team struck a bungalow in Vapi and a farmhouse in Moti Daman, where ongoing production of the synthetic drug was uncovered. Law enforcement recovered 5.9 kilograms of mephedrone, in both solid and liquid form, and a large quantity of chemicals used in its manufacture.
In addition to seizing the drugs, investigators arrested one suspect and are searching for two others. The operation also involved the confiscation of equipment and materials crucial for the drug's production, underscoring the illicit network's scale. Ongoing investigations aim to dismantle the cartel behind this sophisticated operation.
