In a dramatic turn of events, a stolen vehicle from Karnataka was recovered in Maharashtra's Thane city after a reckless high-speed chase that saw police personnel narrowly avoiding being run over. The harrowing incident unfolded on a Sunday night, as detailed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pankaj Shirsat.
The alarm was raised when the traffic control room notified officers that a car with a Karnataka registration was approaching Thane from Navi Mumbai. Despite attempts to intercept the runaway vehicle at Golden Dyes Cross, the defiant driver accelerated towards police officers, subsequently speeding towards Ghodbunder Road.
In a notable act of bravery, officer Asha Hake commandeered a delivery boy's motorcycle to pursue the rogue driver over several kilometers. Despite multiple dangerous attempts by the suspect to evade capture, police succeeded in halting the vehicle near the Vijay Garden signal. However, the culprit managed to flee the scene. The authorities are actively searching for the suspect, while the recovered vehicle has been returned for legal proceedings in Belgaum.
