In a significant crackdown, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) uncovered an illegal Alprazolam manufacturing and trafficking operation in Siddipet district, Telangana. Three individuals have been arrested, including a chemist working as a freelancer. The operation led to the seizure of 39.470 kgs of Alprazolam worth an estimated Rs 12 crore, along with Rs 85.36 lakhs in cash.
NCB officials, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted two vehicles where individuals were seen exchanging the drug illicitly. This activity, conducted without valid licenses, resulted in the significant capture of the narcotic substances and money believed to be the proceeds from its sale.
Further investigation uncovered that the drug's supplier, an MSc Chemistry graduate, was clandestinely manufacturing Alprazolam in his lab at Prashantnagar. The accused have confessed to their involvement in the drug trade, which has reportedly moved approximately 150 kgs in the past five years. The culprits are now in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
