A 24-year-old woman has died in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district, with allegations pointing towards dowry harassment as the cause. Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrest of her husband and father-in-law while investigations proceed into the tragic incident.
Deepika, the victim, allegedly jumped from the terrace of her matrimonial home, driven by desperation fuelled by incessant dowry demands. Her father, Sanjay Nagar, reported receiving an anguished call from her on the day of the incident, asserting that she was being assaulted by her in-laws.
The dowry demands allegedly included a Toyota Fortuner and significant cash. Police are actively pursuing the arrest of other suspects as investigations continue, promising justice for the victim amid growing outcry over yet another dowry-related tragedy.
