The Delhi Police has taken steps against a suspended member of the Delhi Home Guard for allegedly using an unauthorized 'Deputy Commissioner of Police' label on his car, according to officials on Thursday.
The issue came to light after a post on social media displayed the vehicle with the 'Deputy Commissioner of Police, International Police Forum, USS' mark. This prompted an immediate inquiry.
Police investigations revealed that the car belonged to a member who currently serves as a District Staff Officer (DSO) in the Delhi Home Guard but is under suspension. He had been given an honorary rank by the International Police Forum valid until the end of 2027.
The unauthorized display was identified as a breach of the Motor Vehicles Act, and as a result, a challan is being issued. Legal measures were swiftly enacted after the incident gained online attention.
