The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested former district judge Giribala Singh in connection with the death of her daughter-in-law, Twisha Sharma. This arrest follows the cancellation of Singh's anticipatory bail by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which responded to petitions challenging the earlier bail decision.
Authorities took Singh into custody at her Bhopal residence following a CBI interrogation. Her son, Samarth Singh, who is Twisha's husband, is already detained. The CBI intends to present Giribala Singh in court to secure formal custody as they delve into allegations involving domestic abuse and potential evidence tampering, including selective CCTV leaks.
Twisha, a former model, was reportedly found hanging in her marital home on May 12. A subsequent autopsy revealed not only hanging as the cause of death but also other injuries, prompting further investigation. The High Court had also ordered a second postmortem after concerns were raised about procedural flaws in the initial probe.
Twisha's family has leveled serious allegations of domestic violence and dowry-related harassment against Giribala and Samarth Singh, claiming these abuses led to her tragic demise. This ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full circumstances of Twisha Sharma's death.
