Highway Robbery Suspect Arrested Following Gunfire in Odisha

An individual linked to numerous highway robbery incidents in Odisha has been captured following a shootout with police, local authorities reported.
The confrontation unfolded on Saturday night when police, acting on a tip-off, intervened in a planned robbery near Shree Setu Road. As officers arrived, the suspects attempted to escape on motorcycles, leading to a fall and an exchange of gunfire. The suspect, Bishnu Jena, was struck in the leg and subsequently apprehended.
Officials noted that after Jena's fall from his motorcycle, he allegedly shot at the approaching officers, prompting them to return fire in a controlled manner. Following his arrest, Jena received medical treatment at Puri's district hospital before being transferred to SCB Medical College in Cuttack.
