UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has set out on a diplomatic mission, first visiting China and then heading to India. Her discussions in these nations emphasize addressing mutual geopolitical challenges and enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Cooper's itinerary in India includes significant talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, focusing on the 'UK-India Vision 2035'. This initiative seeks to bolster collaboration in business, academia, and government sectors, mirroring a future-oriented partnership. The visit also ties into the ongoing efforts to overcome trade obstacles related to the UK's forthcoming steel import policies.

Launched last July, the Free Trade Agreement aims to nurture economic ties, though its full realization has faced some hurdles. Meanwhile, a recent 'India Meets Britain Tracker' reported a boost in bilateral trade, suggesting positive trends as the CETA ratification progresses.

Before landing in India, Cooper held discussions with Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, reinforcing a focus on technology and science collaboration, particularly in Shenzhen. Her diplomatic tour unfolds against a backdrop of global instability, underscoring the need for robust international partnerships.
