RJD president Lalu Prasad on Thursday urged party members to rally behind his son, Tejashwi Yadav, as the party's chief ministerial candidate for the forthcoming Bihar assembly elections. Speaking at the party's state council meeting, Prasad called for the ousting of current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the RSS from power.

The meeting also witnessed Mangani Lal Mandal's unopposed election as the RJD's Bihar unit chief. Prasad, known for his sharp wit, refrained from his usual humor, focusing instead on rallying support for the Mahagathbandhan coalition, recounting its accomplishments during its brief stint in governance.

Tejashwi Yadav, echoing his father's sentiments, urged party workers to campaign for the coalition's return to power, promising new initiatives for employment and social reforms. He criticized the NDA government for alleged nepotism and lawlessness, calling for change with the slogan "do hazaar pachis se tees, bahut hua Nitish."
