Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Saturday targeted Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, drawing a parallel between the infamous fodder scam and the Bollywood classic "Deewar," where Amitabh Bachchan's character acknowledges his father's criminal past with the line "Mera baap chor hai." Chaudhary suggested Tejashwi Yadav would have to reckon with a similar truth concerning his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The Deputy CM alluded to Lalu Prasad's conviction by a special CBI court in 2017 for illegal withdrawals amounting to Rs 139.35 crore from the Doranda Treasury. The fodder scam, which emerged in 1996, saw Lalu Yadav charged in 1997, and after years of trials, resulted in convictions across several cases, including the embezzling of Rs 89 lakh from the Deoghar Treasury during 1991-94, leading to imprisonment and fines.
Meanwhile, Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha participated in the 11th International Yoga Day in Patna. Sinha praised yoga for its worldwide acceptance and benefits, criticizing RJD for negatively impacting Bihar's health. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, partaking in the celebrations in Visakhapatnam, praised the Andhra Pradesh leadership for their commendable role in promoting yoga as a universal unifier.
