The Congress Party has launched a scathing critique of the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of partisanship by acting as an intermediary for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress alleges that the Special Intensive Review of electoral rolls in Bihar is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise around two crore voters unable to provide required documentation, ahead of upcoming elections.

During a press briefing at the AICC headquarters, media department Chairman Pawan Khera alongside Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar and AICC in-charge for Bihar Krishna Allavaru, expressed severe doubts about the ECI's integrity. Khera described the review as a conspiracy to rob Bihari voters of their electoral rights, accusing the ECI of operating under BJP influence.

Concerns were raised regarding the conduct of the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, towards a delegation of eleven INDIA bloc parties. Khera urged the CEC to consider his legacy and adhere to constitutional duties. Meanwhile, allegations surface alleging the ECI's exercise targets poor and marginalized populations, complicating voter re-registration processes amid allegations of inadequate resources to complete the task.
