A deadly attack by an armed militant group on a military base in northern Burkina Faso has left around 50 soldiers dead, as reported by local sources on Tuesday.
The group suspected of orchestrating the assault is Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM). The attack occurred on Monday at the Dargo base in Boulsa province, within the country's northern region.
Eyewitnesses, speaking anonymously due to safety concerns, revealed that about 100 insurgents stormed the base, leading to the destruction and looting post-assault. The situation underscores ongoing regional instability.
