Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday for its opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the election-bound state of Bihar, suggesting the protest aims to preserve a vote bank consisting of 'Rohingyas and Bangladeshis.' Majumdar accused TMC of disrupting the electoral process to safeguard these voters, stating that such tactics have been a longstanding strategy of the party.

He appealed for the Election Commission to address these allegations, drawing parallels to when the Communist Party of India (Marxist) ruled West Bengal and also questioned the commission's integrity. Majumdar recalled past incidents involving CPM leader Biman Bose, who challenged the EC, which then responded by issuing a show-cause notice demanding clarification.

The TMC has asserted that Bengali Indians face discrimination in states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a rally to reassure migrants of support, as tensions with Assam's CM over purported mistreatment of Bengalis have intensified. TMC joined the INDIA bloc's protest against the SIR, raising concerns with the EC's actions, amidst a demonstration by Congress leaders in Parliament.
