With Bihar's assembly elections on the horizon, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has urged the formation of an alliance based on ideological commonality to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He emphasized moving beyond the MY-equation, which focuses on Muslims and Yadavs, advocating instead for a coalition of Hindus aligned with the ideologies of Gandhi, Jayaprakash Narayan, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Ram Manohar Lohia, alongside Muslims.
Kishor stated, "We only believe in one equation and that is an ideology-based equation... More than half of the Hindus in this country are not with the BJP on the basis of ideology." He promoted a collective front involving Hindus and Muslims with shared beliefs to unseat the BJP.
Concurrently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is launching the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' across Bihar. The campaign, aimed at defending voter rights and opposing alleged irregularities in the electoral process, is set to traverse more than 20 districts across 1,300 kilometers over 16 days. Gandhi's initiative aligns with broader protests by the INDIA bloc against what they describe as "vote theft."
