The Jammu and Kashmir Congress halted its scheduled programs, including an ongoing hunger strike, in a show of respect for the Kishtwar cloudburst victims. This decision follows the tragic event which left at least 60 dead and 82 missing, predominantly affecting visitors to the Machail Mata shrine.

Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra, along with senior party leaders, is set to visit the disaster-stricken Chisoti village. In light of the tragedy's scale, all Congress activities, including the 'Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq' campaign, will be deferred for a week.

A delegation led by Congress figures, including former ministers, called for government aid, urging compensation and a national highway designation for the Kishtwar-Machail road. The sentiment of condolence and support remains at the forefront of the party's response.
