The ruling Congress and opposition BJP have clashed over the ongoing excavation in Dharmasthala amidst allegations of serious crimes including murder and rape.
BJP state president B Y Vijayendra asserted his party's support for the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation but criticized false propaganda against the temple, calling it a matter of hurt for many devotees.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar accused the BJP of political motives, labeling their visit a 'Political Yatra.' The excavation was paused on Sunday, with calls for Home Minister G Parameshwara to clarify the situation amid allegations of numerous burials.
