Renaming of Bangalore City University Sparks Debate in Karnataka Assembly

The Karnataka assembly recently passed a bill to rename Bangalore City University after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The move has sparked considerable debate among political parties.

The opposition BJP argued that establishing a new university would be a more appropriate way to honor the late Prime Minister. They contended that naming an existing institution does not properly pay tribute to his legacy.

Additionally, the BJP suggested renaming Tumkur University in honor of Shivakumar Swamiji, revered by followers as 'Nadedaduva Devaru', adding another layer to the discussion in the assembly.
