The Congress party launched a fierce critique against the Election Commission (EC) on Monday, accusing it of working under the influence of the BJP-led NDA government to disenfranchise poor and marginalized communities during the electoral roll revision in Bihar.
Senior Congress leader Pranav Jha alleged that the EC deliberately deleted names of genuine voters, especially from marginalized communities, under the direction of the NDA. He criticized the EC for ignoring the Supreme Court's suggestion to consider Aadhaar cards as valid proof for voter registration.
The Congress vows to oppose what they describe as a conspiracy to benefit the ruling BJP and JD(U) in Bihar. Jha also accused the Narendra Modi-led central government of undermining judiciary authority by removing the CJI from the selection panel for chief election commissioners.
